They will also have the opportunity to develop and teach lower and upper-level courses in their areas of expertise. We particularly welcome applicants who work with digital humanities, public history, issues of intersectionality, biblical reception/reception history, and/or histories of the ancient Near East. The Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies offers a Philosophy major and minor and Religious Studies major and minor. The Religious Studies program is the only one of its kind in the University System of Maryland, helping students to navigate theoretical, historical, anthropological, sociological, and ethical dimensions of diverse religious experiences.
The Department of History offers a major and minor in History, a minor in human rights and history, and concentration in history secondary education. In courses that examine a wide range of cultures and historical periods, students learn how to make connections between the past and present and develop critical thinking.
